Construction Timeline
Fiberglass pools are pre-manufactured and installed in a matter of days once the site is prepped. Concrete (gunite) pools are built in place and typically take several weeks to a couple of months, since the shell needs to cure before finishing.
Design Flexibility
Concrete pools can be built to nearly any shape or size, which matters if you want a custom design, integrated spa, or specific water feature. Fiberglass pools come in manufacturer-set shapes and sizes.
Ongoing Maintenance
Fiberglass's smooth gel-coat surface resists algae growth and generally requires less chemical maintenance than concrete's more porous surface, which can be a meaningful factor over the life of the pool.
